i purchased this pillow based on the wirecutter article the best lumbar support pillow published march 30 2017 . i made this purchase with similar circumstances and reasoning to the writer lacking the freedom or funds to choose a different office chair and turning https://www.washingtonpost.com/newssearch/?query=lumbar support to lumbar pillows as a solution for the persistent discomfort . to my pleasant surprise this worked just as the writer for the wirecutter article indicated. it is much easier to sit in my non supportive office chair. it is very straightforward to adjust the pillow with the adjustable buckled strap and placing it in a position that will be most suitable for you. and given that this has an adjustable buckled strap one could use this in a car or even a plane ride if so desired. i have yet to try this myself since my issue was primarily regarding the non supportive office chair that i cannot yet replace. obviously you won't need something like this if you already have a chair that offers decent support. however this is a great solution to add support to chairs that don't have it and you are unable to replace those chairs with better ones. it's also great this does have a removable mesh cover if one needs to wash it. back support i think this is a pretty good lumbar cushion. it's comfortable and about the right shape. i should mention i'm 165 lbf and 5 ft 11 inches. because most of your weight goes downward i think it'd work fine for folks even up to 250 lbf but if you're very wide you may not have support on the sides. as for the negative comments from some other reviews first yes it smells at first like any memory foam product . just leave it in your garage or on your covered porch for several days to air it out. i only smell it if i put my nose up to it now and it's only been unpackaged for about 3 days. the outer covering is also washable although i haven't washed it yet. second i don't think it protrudes as much as some people say. initially this best chair for back pain sufferers looks like it from the picture but the foam compresses. anyways i don't necessarily need my shoulder blades against the chair although they do barely touch most of your support is on the cushion itself and obviously you'll have to adjust your chair seat since you'll be located more forward in your chair . i haven't used the strap yet but it looks like it's made fairly well and is elastic as well as adjustable.
